Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit Data Clerk (Fixed Term)

University of Cambridge - Department of Oncology

The Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit (CBCRU) is a purpose built research facility attached to the Cambridge Breast Unit. It is involved in cutting edge clinical and laboratory research into breast cancer and is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team, including oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, nurses, research assistants, data management and laboratory staff involved in translational research. Due to expansion of the department there is now a need for an additional data clerk.

Working with existing hospital systems (Epic), as well as legacy hospital systems, the post holder will collate data from various sources to maintain retrospective and prospective research spread sheets and databases within the CBCRU.  The CBCRU data clerk will assist in the development of electronic Case Report Forms (CRFs) within Open-Clinica and oversee the completion and transfer of existing translational data. The role will also require the post holder to provide regular updates on translational research recruitment and to create reports and complete simple analysis on translational research data.

The post holder would be expected to take a flexible approach to the duties of the post. Candidates should be able to demonstrate verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Attention to detail is essential in this role, as is an organised and methodical approach to data management. This may be tested as part of the interview process.

Candidates should be educated to A level, NVQ or equivalent standards and should have previous experience of using Microsoft Office. A willingness to undertake further computer training, including Open-Clinica, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training is essential.
