If you have proven experience of delivering construction projects, a proven track record in Project Management, and experience in the use of the normal range of business and project management software as well as CAD capability and BIM awareness then this may be the opportunity you are waiting for.

The Property Unit within UKAEA are looking for a Building Refurbishment Manager to join their team of around 20 staff to assist in the delivery of a wide range of refurbishment and development projects ranging from £20K to £1m with a collective portfolio value of £5m.

You will be capable of project managing the delivery of a wide range of building refurbishments works on time and in budget while adhering to UKAEA process and procedure.

Reporting to the Property Works Planning Manager and the Head of Property you will be the principle technical contact to formulate, analyse and evaluate scopes of work for building refurbishment projects, develop the tender packages and undertake tender exercises. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders for individual projects and manage the contractors appointed to undertake the work.


Knowledge skills and experience


-Educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering or construction discipline

-The post requires a good range of technical and engineering skills to deal with the wide variety of building and project types. In particular, Mechanical and Electrical would be desirable.

-Proven experience of delivering construction projects, preferably in the public sector.

-Professional qualification or proven track record in Project Management including project planning and implementation, financial control, the assessment of contract strategies, contract supervision safety and associated environmental management.

-Safety Management: A good working knowledge of the Construction Design and Management Regulations with demonstrable experience of site safety management.

-Demonstrable experience of managing internal; and external stakeholders at different levels.

The post requires an excellent understanding of the procedures and practices used in big organisations for delivering maintenance and building managements projects, as well as current Health and Safety legislation.


-Chartered status of an appropriate professional body, e.g. Chartered Institute of Building

-Contracts: Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the administration of the NEC form of contract.

-Experienced in the use of the normal range of business and project management software as well as CAD capability and BIM awareness.
