The Department of Strategy, Enterprise and Sustainability (SES) in the Faculty of Business and Law invites you to join us. You will teach on undergraduate, postgraduate, executive, blended learning programmes, and research and contribute to the Research Excellence Framework.

The department of Strategy, Enterprise and Sustainability (SES) is a vibrant, teaching and research active team of professionals, hosting the ‘Strategy & Sustainability’ subject group and the ‘Enterprise & Innovation’ subject group. This post sits within the ‘Strategy & Sustainability’ subject group. This subject group’s teaching interests include strategic management, business environments, business ethics, sustainability, research methods amongst others. Delivery on the Business Management undergraduate and other Master programmes is a major aspect of this group’s commitments.

Our department is focussed on delivering high quality programmes encompassing high employability outcomes and student satisfaction. Our courses and programmes are accredited by bodies like AACSB, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Institute of Enterprise & Entrepreneurs (IOEE) and AMBA. We run an MSc in Management and a large undergraduate programme in Business Management with law, placement and overseas study variations. In addition, we have launched our new apprenticeship programmes under the Chartered Manager & Senior Leaders’ standards. Academic staff in SES are also research active and are members of one or more research centres, which include the Sustainability and Ethical Enterprise Group, Centre for Decent Work and Productivity, Future Economies as well as the Sylvia Pankhurst research centre.

Within this role, you will teach on undergraduate and taught postgraduate Business Management/Management programmes, executive education and online programmes. You will be involved with programme revalidation as well as lead and develop quality programmes. You will also undertake research, knowledge exchange, and other scholarly activity to contribute to the development of new areas in strategic management, delivering commercial enterprise activity where appropriate.

You will have a PhD in a related area and will ideally have relevant industry experience and be engaged in teaching and research.

You will provide input to overall development of the MSc Management, BA Business Management, MBA and other executive and online education programmes through the development and delivery of new and innovative modules. You will develop appropriate and challenging assessments that measure student performance and ensure that learning outcomes have been met and will deliver and assess existing modules across different programmes ensuring high employability outcomes and student satisfaction.

You will be the designated Academic/Personal Tutor for small groups of students and proactively and effectively engage with quality assurance and enhancement procedures and will also supervise the work of taught postgraduate and/or research students, as required, to support the development of students’ research skills.

You will plan, carry out and supervise research, using appropriate methodology and techniques, which result in high quality publications submitted to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) at acceptable levels of volume and academic excellence. You will also pursue personal research including developing research ideas and securing financial support for the subject area.
