Duration: Fixed-term for 24 months

The School of Chemical Engineering at Birmingham University is seeking to recruit an experienced Chemical Engineer with significant project management experience to effectively co-ordinate and manage the successful delivery of a newly awarded 10 M Euro H2020 project under the LCE-20 programme (Flexjet). The project will deliver a new TCR-SABR plant which will convert waste vegetable oil and food waste into 1200 tonnes of aviation fuel. The fuel will be fully certified and delivered to a passenger airport in Germany as a fuel for passenger aircraft.

The successful candidate will have excellent chemical engineering skills to assist with plant design, P&ID’s and HAZOPs. They will need to work closely with the technical managers and management board to co-ordinate all aspects of project delivery. The candidate will also be required to organise consortium meetings, deal with day-to-day administration duties and ensure all project deliverables and milestones are met on time. Regular travel to Europe will be required.

The successful candidate will have substantial project management experience, ideally with previous management experience in H2020 or other EU funded programmes. The candidate will have excellent planning, written and communication skills, and will be competent with project co-ordination and general management. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong chemical engineering background.
