Sector Team Leader for Public Sector

The University of Edinburgh - Corporate Services Group - Corporate Services Office

Closing Date: 15-APR-2018 at 5pm GMT

Fixed term for 6-12 months

The newly established Data-Driven Innovation Programme Delivery Office at the University of Edinburgh is recruiting a Sector Team Lead for Public Sector.  This is a unique opportunity to shape and contribute to a historic and groundbreaking programme of change and innovation.

The role of the Sector Team Lead will be to engage externally across the Public Sector, and internally within the University, to produce a focused, robust and coherent sectoral proposition, sector engagement plan and associated internal delivery plan that will reflect the needs, challenges and opportunities of the sector concerning Data Driven Innovation.

The Edinburgh and South-East Scotland City Region Deal was announced on 20th July 2017 by UK and Scottish Governments. Innovation is to play a significant role in the Deal, attracting £350M of Government funding, with a Data-Driven Innovation Programme at its heart, which seeks to make the region the European leader for applying data science to products and services.  The University of Edinburgh will lead this major initiative in collaboration with partners from the private, public and third sectors.

As the City Deal, and the DDI Programme, moves through to the final stages of approval with Governments, there is now a requirement for more detailed development and planning of the DDI activities, building on the information developed for submission of business cases to Governments. The initial priority sectors of the regional economy identified for action are:

  • Financial Services and Fintech
  • Public Sector
  • Tourism & Festivals/Creative Industries

Vacancy Ref: 043234
