The Faculty of Science and Engineering brings together all the aerospace research and teaching activities within the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and has a strong globalisation agenda and is strongly linked between the three University of Nottingham International Campuses, i.e. in UK, Malaysia and China campuses. It is expected that the successful candidate will support the globalisation efforts of the Faculty and support teaching activity and joint research programmes across the campuses.

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent and post-doctoral academic research experience in a field related to aircraft aerodynamics and/or to fluid mechanics and dynamics. It is required that the candidate has practical experience and expertise with practical aspects in their areas of research. It is essential that the candidate has proven experience in research leadership and has a proven track record in project management.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and to supervise undergraduate and masters dissertations. The person appointed will be expected to conduct original research in appropriate fields and play a lead role in collaborative research projects, leading to high quality publications and grant income. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist with the administration of the Faculty and thus contribute to the Faculty’s and the University’s excellent and growing reputation in the field of Aerospace Engineering.

This post is related to the teaching of undergraduate courses in the fields of aerodynamics and propulsion covering topics such as introduction to aerodynamics, inviscid low-speed flow, viscous flow, aerofoil and wing aerodynamics, experimental aerodynamics and aircraft propulsion.

The successful candidate will be expected to have extensive research experience and expertise in either aerospace aerodynamics and/or in the area of fluid mechanics and dynamics. The successful candidate will also be joining a Research Group within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, based on their particular area(s) of expertise and experience.

Salary will be within the range of £35,550 – £47,722 per annum for assistant professor and £50,618 - £60,410 per annum for associate professor depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

This post is available from August 2018 and will initially be offered on a tenure track equivalent contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
