Research Development Manager (Team Leader, College of Biomedical and Life Sciences)

Cardiff University

Each year Cardiff University’s researchers secure over £100 million in new externally-funded research grants and contracts. The Research Development team provides critical, underpinning operational support to ensure that researchers are appropriately supported in developing bids for funding and that income to the University is maximised through such activity.

Reporting directly to the Head of Research Development Director of RIS you will lead a well-established Research Development team with joint responsibility for managing the portfolio of work across relevant academic schools within the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences.  You will facilitate and develop research undertaken across the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences, providing advice, guidance and specialist support, and leading projects within this area.

You will also support joint working with the University’s Colleges of Physical Sciences & Engineering and Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences and fulfil a cross-cutting role in supporting the work of the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation & Engagement.

You will be pro-active in supporting research funding applications and related activities in academic schools which already have international reputations for research excellence and are major generators of external research income to the University.

The focus of your activities will be strongly influenced by Cardiff University’s The Way Forward 2018-2023 strategy, the Research Strategic Theme and the College Delivery Plan. Your work will directly support the achievement of the University’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for research. Operationally, the Research Development team’s Delivery Plan will determine your priorities.
