The Role
The Directorate of Academic and Student Services (DASS) is seeking to recruit an Academic Services Operations Manager to provide management, leadership and strategic direction across all the Directorate’s activities including the student life cycle, academic governance, data governance, and regulatory compliance. You will oversee the day to day operations and provide leadership and motivation to staff within the directorate (to be five direct reports).

Working closely with the Dean UK who leads the Directorate, the Academic Services and Operations Manager will support the Dean in defining the Directorate’s strategy, oversee its implementation working closely with a range of stakeholders across the institute. They will help set the budget for the Directorate and monitor the performance of the Directorate and numerous short and long life projects to enhance student experience, quality and institutional performance.

This is a key and visible role within the Directorate and across the Institute. As such you must have experience of managing projects, service delivery, and engaging stakeholders.

The Candidate
To be considered for the Academic Services & Operations Manager position you will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

Essential Criteria

  • Ideally a postgraduate qualification;
  • Demonstrable leadership and operational experience in tertiary education and leading teams for data collection in a timely manner;
  • Student focused;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and under pressure;
  • Strong operations, project coordination and management experience; must be able to deliver and mange a high quality service;
  • Expert knowledge and experience in UK quality processes and higher education administration, UK regulatory submissions, legislation and regulation;
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully managing teams, especially inspiring focus on quality, results and motivation to achieve and set standards of customer service, staff development, and monitoring quality;
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must have right to live and work in the UK.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of the creative media industries;
