Trial Coordinator

University of Southampton - FOS - Faculty of Medicine

The Academic Unit of Primary Care and Population Sciences is based across two sites in the Faculty of Medicine at Aldermoor Health Centre and Southampton General Hospital.  The Unit requires a Trial Coordinator to manage the Southampton site of a large trial in Primary Care, known as the ATTACK Study, to look at whether the addition of low-dose aspirin to usual care reduces the risk of major vascular events in people with Chronic Kidney Disease.

This is a multi-centre project funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Technology Assessment board (HTA) and is being led from the University of Southampton, in collaboration with the University of Nottingham and involving Professors Michael Moore and Paul Roderick in Southampton. The Chief Investigator on the study is Prof Hugh Gallagher, Visiting Chair at the University of Southampton and as well as consultant nephrologist at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust.  The fieldwork is being co-ordinated by Nottingham, with Southampton being one of the 3 regional hubs.

Applicants will be educated to Skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification or equivalent, possess excellent organizational and communication skills, with previous trial management experience.  Excellent word processing, communication skills and a good eye for detail are essential requirements for this post.  The post will also require travel to GP surgeries for patient recruitment. A DBS check may be required for this post. 

The position is available immediately for 24 Months in the first instance but with the possibility of extending it further dependent upon continued funding.
