Widening Participation & Outreach Manager

Royal Academy of Dramatic Art

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is one of the world’s leading drama schools and a centre of excellence for the training of talented actors, designers, specialist craftspeople, technicians and stage managers for careers at the highest level in theatre, television, film and radio.

We are seeking someone committed to diversity as our Widening Participation & Outreach Manager to develop RADA’s strategic approach to widening participation, develop and deliver programmes, manage our reporting requirements, build relationships and develop effective evaluation of our work. This position would suit someone working either in an arts/theatre environment or a higher education context (with a knowledge of arts) who has delivered WP initiatives, understands the policy environment (or can quickly acquire that knowledge) and would like to make an active contribution to diversity in drama.

The post-holder will be part of Student and Academic Services (or ‘the SAS’ as we describe ourselves), which looks after the student experience of our higher education students from before they join us until they leave. We cover all aspects of the student’s life at RADA and provide administrative support to the Acting and Technical Faculties in delivering the training. We work with all other departments across the Academy to make sure that people are in the right place at the right time, with the right equipment that programmes run efficiently, that we have routes into our world-leading training and that students who come to RADA are supported every step of their journey with us.

Our Widening Participation & Outreach team offer opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to have an experience of conservatoire training at RADA. We run programmes for young people from age 11, including RADA’s Youth Company, Young Theatre Makers and Technical tasters. The post-holder will jointly manage an administrator and freelance practitioners.

Closing date for applications: 5pm on Monday 23 April 2018

Interviews:  Early May 2018
