Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer in Oral Surgery

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Master’s degree in Oral Surgery/Membership in Oral Surgery
  • Diploma of Membership or Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons

With considerable teaching experience in the field of Oral Surgery at the undergraduate level and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Dentoalveolar Surgery
  • Implantology and Grafting techniques
  • Sedation techniques

A strong record of research and publication would also be an asset.

Special Responsibilities

  • Working closely with staff in the Faculty of Medical Sciences in providing quality leadership in teaching and curriculum development
  • Teaching undergraduate students
  • Teaching and supervising Dental Interns
  • Undertaking clinical supervision 
  • Participating in clinically oriented problem-based learning activities
  • Supporting University assessment and examination activities
  • Conducting impactful research and publications
  • Managing patients in a hospital in an outpatient setting

Personal Attributes
The Oral Diseases Unit places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Candidates should possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:

  • Uphold the highest standards of practice and medical ethics
  • Possess strong patient management skills
  • Be able to relate well with colleagues and support staff and take on any responsibilities incumbent with the post
  • Be able to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
