Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering

The School of Engineering and Computer Science (SoECS) at the University of Hull is recruiting a Senior Lecturer or a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. Over the past few years the School has undergone significant growth and this post is aimed at supporting a thriving core discipline in the School. Applications are sought from candidates with a strong teaching background in mechanical engineering science, in particularly in stress analysis and FEA to support our established Mechanical Engineering programmes and new Digital Engineering (Mechanical Design and Manufacture) provision.

The School offer MEng/BEng and BSc programmes in Chemical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Engineering and Computer Science and has a long history of accreditation through IET, IMechE, IChemE and BCS. As an integrated School, staff and students benefit from shared facilities including mechanical workshops, microscopy suite, FabLab (3D printing lab), embedded systems development facility, HIVE (mixed reality development studio) and robotics laboratories. The School’s research interests and facilities are aligned to a number of key themes - robotics and autonomous systems, digital manufacturing, advanced materials and manufacturing, big data analytics, biomedical engineering, virtual environments and human-computer interaction, sustainable built environment, bio-based materials and biofuels and dependable intelligent systems / cyber security. Supported by significant investment the School is focused on a strong growth plan aiming to double its size over the next 5 – 10 years. The expansion of our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching provision includes Cyber security, Civil Engineering and Digital Engineering (Mechanical Design and Manufacture), Degree Apprenticeships and engineering management.
