We are seeking a Clinical Trial Manager for the ORiF trial (Operative Rib Fixation) with the Surgical Intervention Trial Unit (SITU). SITU is part of the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) based in the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.
As a Clinical Trial Manager you will work autonomously, taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the ORiF Trial. This is a randomised controlled trial assessing chest wall stabilisation through operative rib fixation. Your main responsibilities will be to support the participating sites, conduct site set-up, and manage the Trial Master File. You will also act as a central point of contact for enquiries, track progress, and liaise effectively with all relevant staff and collaborators. As a part of this role you will also work effectively as a research team member within SITU ensuring achievement of project deadlines, regularly scheduling, and attending meetings.
You will hold a good first degree (first or upper class second) in a biomedical or health related discipline or relevant sufficient experience. You will also have experience of clinical research methodology, good clinical practice, and the research governance framework. Demonstrable administrative and project management skills will be essential as well as the ability to follow written procedures and set up systems to comply with such procedures. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, problem solve, as well as organise and manage the work of a professional team under management guidance.
Previous experience as a trial coordinator/manager and/or working within primary or secondary care NHS settings is desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment until 1 December 2022.
A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6: £28,098 - £33,518 p.a.) with commensurate reduction in responsibilities if a suitable candidate cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.
