The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £33,518 per annum, plus £2,923 per annum London Allowance.

This post will be a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for a further 12 months.

This is a Full time position.

The Department of History seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Modern South Asian History, tenable for 12 months full-time from 1 September 2018.

The post holder will specialize in Modern South Asian History and contribute to departmental teaching in the subject. The main teaching responsibilities will be: to convene and deliver the 2-semester 2nd year modules, 5AAH3011 Modern South Asia from the Mughals to Modi, and 5AAH2035 Conflict, Coexistence and Cooperation: South Asia's International Relations since 1900; to co-convene the 2-semester 3rd year thematic module, 6AAH4014 Wealth, and to deliver seminars for the 1-semester MA-level module, 7AAH0001 Advanced Skills for Historians. In addition, the post holder will have research time to build their publication profile, and is expected to contribute to the administration and pastoral provision of the Department of History.

Applications are welcome from candidates with expertise in Modern South Asian History and the ability to teach across the range of topics outlined above. Candidates are expected to have submitted their PhD by the date of appointment.

The selection process will consist of a short presentation and interview and is scheduled to take place on the afternoon of Thursday, 24 May 2018.
