Student Life Coordinator

University of Surrey - Student Services & Administration

The University of Surrey provides an innovative Student Life service (Student Life Mentoring) which supports students at the University. Mentors are all current students who can help with any questions or concerns that may arise throughout the year, relating to any aspect of student life. Mentors aim to help their fellow students find solutions to problems at the earliest opportunity, before they impact study or student life. Mentors also organise regular social events which provide a great opportunity to get to know new people.

The role of Student Life Mentoring Coordinator involves the recruitment and training of the new intake of mentors each academic year, followed by the day to day supervision and line management of approximately 25 mentors. The Student Life Mentoring team sits within the Student Services Centre, and there will be opportunities to get involved in other student support related tasks within the Student Life team and Student Services Centre.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication, self-organisation, and relationship building skills alongside a familiarity with student support issues. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, people-orientated individual who thrives on new challenges, is flexible, and is able to manage teams of student mentors, as well as being an effective member of a small central team.
