Research Manager

Job Purpose

To manage research support activities to ensure their efficient and effective delivery across the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit (SPHSU), thereby providing a foundation of support to SPHSU’s research programmes and to optimise the alignment of these services with those provided at University, College (MVLS) and Institute of Health and Wellbeing (IHW) level.

The post holder will be responsible for Unit governance, business and management and to co-ordinate the Unit’s internal and external communications. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the post-holder will be responsible for providing specialist expertise and advice at senior management level consistent with the Unit’s vision to maximise the impact of the SPHSU’s and wider Institute of Health and Wellbeing’s research on relevant academic fields, and population health and wellbeing.

Standard Terms & Conditions

Salary will be on the Management, Professional and Administrative Grade, level 8 £42,418 - £49,149 per annum.

This position is full time and has funding until 31 March 2021.

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
