Study Adviser

University of Reading - Library

We are seeking a proactive individual to provide one to one study advice to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students on an appointment basis; to offer a quick query service at an information point and deliver workshops on study skills including academic writing, time management etc. to both mixed and specific subject groups of students.

The Library offers a friendly and dynamic working environment and is an accredited Investor in People, strongly committed to continuing professional development and staff training.

You will have:

  • A postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent listening, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Good organisation and time management skills and a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to liaise with academic staff on the skills development needs of their students.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning in HE; the study practices students need for success and an understanding of current trends and issues in higher education.
  • Experience of teaching, or providing advice and guidance in education.
  • A strong commitment to a high standard of user-focused service delivery.

This position is part-time 0.5 FTE.
