Postdoctoral Research Associate in Modelling Space-borne Observations of Tropospheric Chemistry

We wish to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the field of atmospheric modelling to interpret satellite observations of atmospheric composition (gases and aerosol particles). This position is part of the NERC National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO), which is a distributed centre in which the University of Edinburgh is a core partner.

You will join a group of researchers studying various aspects of atmospheric composition, including land and ocean surface processes that help drive observed variability. The group uses in situ and remotely sensed measurements, computers models, and advanced data analysis techniques to gain a better fundamental understanding of the atmosphere composition.

You will be a highly qualified and self-motivated individual who will be able to help refine the underlying research questions, to develop tools to address those questions, and to deliver key scientific deliverables. You will also be expected to present your results to NCEO scientists and to the broader scientific community.

You will have experience in developing and applying a global 3-D chemistry transport model and interpreting remotely sensed data. Knowledge of FORTRAN and Python computer languages are essential.

The post is full time for 24 months however there is potential for this to be extended on an annual rolling basis in line with the NCEO contract.
