Clinical Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry

Job Purpose

The appointee will play a significant role in delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Restorative Dentistry. The post-holder will be expected to participate fully in the management of the Section of Clinical Dentistry, including involvement in agenda setting and the development of strategy at a high level within the Dental School. The focus of the post may be on Research or Learning & Teaching, depending upon the applicants' strengths and previous experience. In addition, applicants will be expected to perform the duties of an Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry.

Clinical Facilities

The Restorative Dentistry Group, which is part of the Section of Clinical Dentistry, comprises the academic areas of Restorative Dentistry (incorporating Endodontics, Fixed & Removable Prosthodontics, and Periodontology). The Clinics are based on Levels 6 and 7. On Level 6, there are 7 clinical chairs in "A" Clinic and 10 in "B" Clinic, together with 28 chairs within the Restorative Main Clinic available for use by undergraduate and postgraduate students. There are a further 10 chairs on Level 7 available for student teaching. The Restorative Dentistry clinical facilities have recently undergone a significant refurbishment programme, completed in 2014.

2 Specialist Trainees, 5 Core Trainees.

Staffing levels will change to meet future service and business priorities.

Academic staff members are responsible to: Professor J Bagg, Head of the Dental School for academic matters and Mr Lee Savarrio, Clinical Director, for clinical matters.

The post holder will be mentored in this role and supported towards achieving a learning and teaching qualification, if not already in possession of such a qualification.
