Part Time, 0.6 FTE (flexible) 36 months in the first instance.
Grade/Salary: NHS Consultant Grade (appropriate to clinical grade).

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Senior Clinical Teacher within the Clinical Skills Centre, to jointly lead the undergraduate clinical skills course.

Based at Ninewells, one of Europe's largest teaching hospitals, the School of Medicine provides outstanding medical education and training for the doctors of tomorrow. Ranked as number 1 in Scotland and number 4 in the UK (Guardian University Guide 2018) it consistently ranks highly for graduate preparedness for practice.

The School of Medicine has made a substantial commitment to developing a high quality clinical skills programme for undergraduate medical students. This has involved investment in faculty and facilities including; up-to-date specialised simulators, part task trainers and simulated ward and primary care environments. These facilities and the associated programme, delivered through the clinical skills theme within the wider curriculum, ensures learners are well prepared for supervised practice in the workplace during their clinical placements. The Centre is involved with teaching on procedural skills, examination skills, communication skills and non-technical skills.

Role Purpose
You will jointly lead the undergraduate clinical skills course with another senior clinical teacher and be:

  • leading, evaluating and developing the undergraduate clinical skills teaching programme;
  • making a substantial contribution in the delivery of core clinical skills teaching;
  • contributing to staff development within the Clinical Skills Centre.

The successful applicants will:

  • have full GMC registration and be a practising clinician;
  • possess a depth of specialist knowledge to assist with curriculum development;
  • display substantial commitment and experience of medical education;
  • demonstrate an ability to support students in their learning.
