Research Technician

A Research Technician is required to provide technical support in molecular microbiology/microbial ecology for postdoctoral researchers working on an ERC-funded project in environmental microbiology researching microbial degradation of isoprene in the terrestrial environment. 
Duties will involve isolation and cultivation of isoprene degrading bacteria, purification of DNA from environmental samples, PCR, cloning and sequencing, qPCR, RT-PCR, DNA stable isotope probing, analysis of gases by gas chromatography. 
You will have a BSc degree or equivalent level of qualification in Microbiology, Genetic Biological Sciences, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. In addition, you will be able to satisfy all essential criteria detailed in the person specification for this post. 
The post is available from 1 June 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter on a full-time (1.0fte), fixed term basis until 31 October 2021.
