The Faculty of Science and Technology has a strategic need to develop its entrepreneurial activity and is keen to appoint a key management role within the Faculty. We require the kind of dynamic, innovative and ambitious individual that reflects the personality of this Faculty and institution.

As a member of the Faculty Executive Team, the Faculty Director of Business Engagement and Innovation will support the Executive Dean in ensuring the achievement of strategic objectives with regards to innovation within the Faculty. The post holder will work closely with the Directors of Research and Business Development and the Heads of School to provide leadership for the operation, management and delivery of innovation and enterprise activity throughout the Faculty in the context of the University’s Strategic Plan. Working closely with the University senior management as well as other Faculty leads, the position will support work towards meeting the key university targets within the UCLan measures on external income and engagement, and support the promotion of enterprise within the professional curricula and activity we deliver. The role will also support the development of key initiatives such as the Centre for SME Development, the Leadership Hub, Criminal Justice Partnerships and UCLan PROTECT.

The successful applicant must demonstrate significant experience in bid development and the management of innovation and consultancy projects, as well as managing and co-ordinating resources and experience of working with regulatory, finance processes and governance systems. They must have a depth of understanding and broad experience of policy development and implementation in research in the HEI sector. With a Higher degree or Doctorate in a relevant discipline or the equivalent industrial experience, you will have a reputation and profile commensurate with this senior academic leadership role.

The post requires experience in the development and implementation of strategy and policy in areas pertinent to the Faculty, with candidates combining excellent communication and networking skills and a record of successful leadership and management in innovation. The ability to lead a change management agenda and to embrace new ways of working is essential, as is the academic or professional credibility to represent the Faculty and University in a wide external contexts.
