The College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences is home to over 2,200 staff and 6000 students and has an annual turnover in excess of £235M. The College is organised into seven Research Institutes, each focussed on key strategic research themes and delivering several postgraduate degree programmes. Our research generates an annual income of over £120M and is focussed on improving the health and quality of life of humans and animals across the globe.

The Policy & Business Intelligence Team in MVLS is dedicated to providing the highest possible standard of support to College academic and administrative staff in the provision and analysis of management information to enable monitoring of performance and to inform strategic and operational decision making across all areas of College business. We will lead the implementation of the College’s research relevant policies and procedures including those related to REF, open access to data and publications, research integrity to ensure that the College’s research is portrayed optimally and in compliance with external drivers and legislation.

We are looking for a Research Data Officer to support the development and implementation of the College’s research-related strategies, policies and associated initiatives by performing a comprehensive data management and analysis role, particularly to support preparations for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The post holder will be responsible for analysing, presenting and advising on data from internal and external systems and sources in order to (1) check accuracy and put processes in place to avoid systematic data issues; 2) support the development, implementation and monitoring of strategies and policies related to research and knowledge exchange; (3) facilitate robust preparations for post-2014 research assessment exercises; and (4) undertake benchmarking activities in support of the improvement of the College’s research excellence.
