Teaching Associate (Part Time, Fixed Term)

The Department of Medical Genetics wishes to appoint a Teaching Associate (0.5FTE) in Genomic Medicine.

The University of Cambridge is a leading centre for research, education and practice of genomic medicine. In partnership with the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Wellcome Genome Campus Advanced Courses and Scientific Conferences, and EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute and Cambridge University Hospitals, the University of Cambridge has developed a Masters programme in genomic medicine that offers full-time (MPhil) and part-time (MST) Masters courses in addition to Postgraduate Diploma, Postgraduate Certificate and individual Modules for CPD. The part-time (0.5FTE) post is to support the development of the Masters programme, particularly full-time students. The post is based in the Cambridge University Department of Medical Genetics (Head Professor E Maher) on the Biomedical Campus.

The purpose of this role is to support and maintain the University's national and international reputation for excellence in teaching.  The post holder will contribute to teaching, course development, project supervision and examining for graduate students taking the Masters in Genomic Medicine programme (www.graduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses/directory/cvmgmpgnm).

The post holder should have a proven specialist academic interest in the subject of Genomics and will hold a PhD in a relevant subject or have equivalent demonstrable experience. You will have some experience of teaching with demonstrable ability to explain concepts and complex information to non-experts, develop and encourage the commitment to learn in others and to present material to a range of audiences. You will excel at developing strong working relationships and networks, be comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively, both within and outside the immediate team. You will have excellent organisational skills and will be able to manage your own workload to competing deadlines.
