Salary: Grade 6, £25,728 - £29,799 per annum. Potential to progress to £32,548 per annum

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant working on an exciting project which aims to improve the way in which the NHS delivers respiratory therapies, such as non-invasive ventilation (NIV), to patients with motor neurone disease (MND). You will work on Work Packages 2, 3 and 4 of this project. Work Package two involves carrying out a survey to explore current clinical practices and standards relating to the use of NIV in MND in the UK and in similar services to the NHS within Europe. Work Package 3 involves carrying out stakeholder consultations to explore and contextualise the research findings from previous Work Packages and to gain input about how best to translate them into clinical practice. Work Package 4 focuses on creating and testing a practical information toolkit to support the practice of healthcare professionals involved in the respiratory management of MND patients.

You will work to closely with clinicians and researchers at University of Sheffield’s Department of Neuroscience Sheffield Institute for Translational Neurosciences, the School of Health and Related Research, the Psychology department and IT specialists. SITraN is in an internationally recognised multidisciplinary group of scientists and clinicians with expertise in translating research into clinical practice in neurological diseases and is a core member of the prestigious NIHR Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre.
