The Administrator (Procurement) post sits within the Finance Team in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society. The post-holder line manages a sub-group of Finance Assistants (5 posts, 4.3 FTE) who process all EGIS procurement, casual payroll, travel, independent distance learning (IDL) credit card payments, purchasing card payments and processing of School-level budgets. The post-holder also provides cover during peak work periods or during absences.

Based full-time on the Edinburgh campus, the post-holder will provide the Finance Manager with direct and indirect support through supervision of the team of Administrative Assistants to deliver efficient and effective procurement and finance assistant duties within the School, ensuring maximum value for money to the University. The post-holder’s responsibility is to ensure that the School’s Finance Assistants implement the University’s Financial Regulations with any decisions they make as well as follow the Travel and Expenses policy and application of budgeting/authorising spend processes within the University/School.

The Finance team is one of 7 professional services teams within the School and is managed by the Finance Manager. The professional services teams within the School are committed to pursuing excellence and within this context aim to provide a supportive and professional environment in which excellent research, education and knowledge exchange can flourish.

The post-holder will be required to liaise closely with other members of the School’s Finance Team as well as other professional service teams both within the School and across the university. For example, the School’s Research & Knowledge Exchange Support team and Staff Office, Centre Finance teams (particularly Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), Treasury Finance (TF) and Student Service Centre (SSC) etc.) to ensure that all duties are seamlessly covered and an excellent service is provided.
