Advisor, Consultant: Degree Awarding Powers

The Blackford Centre

About us

Last year The Blackford Centre trained distance learners in 83 countries around the world. We help people acquire new skills and jobs, and we've been providing high quality multi-media courses for over 21 years. Based in Somerset UK, we have offices in South Africa, the Philippines and the USA.

With the UK government's recent review of higher education, it's time to assess whether we should apply for degree awarding powers as an alternative provider; and if so what strategy to adopt.

All our courses are distance learning, so visas are not an issue. Our learners are self-funding at present.

Job Description

The role involves supporting and advising us for a possible application to the UK's OFS for degree awarding powers. This is a consultancy role.

We anticipate an initial scoping analysis, followed by more detailed work that might involve writing or reviewing an application.

This is a short-term consultancy role which is mainly remote working.

About you

You need senior management experience in UK higher education or government. You need to have insights into current government thinking. You should be open to the possibility of alternative providers in UK higher education.
