We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our Grants team, to design reports, provide management information and oversee data quality. We welcome the opportunity to discuss a flexible working pattern for this vacancy.

About the job

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Monitor the integrity of the data and implementing improvement strategies.
  • Manage the data validation processes, to ensure financial and non-financial data conforms to agreed standards.
  • Periodically manage data cleansing activities (including management of requisite temporary staff and/or liaison with software suppliers).
  • Define and validate system development requirements relevant to grants data, and subsequently undertaking UAT and regression testing of these developments.
  • Work with stakeholders from across the organisation (Digital & Technology, Insight & Analysis, Grants Management & Funding Divisions) and systems suppliers to ensure key grants data, required for reporting and analysis purposes, is identified, captured, accessible and accurate.
  • Design and manage of a suite of operational reports for business users (including the creation, modification and deletion of these reports to meet changing business requirements)
  • Train staff to use reporting systems and to correctly interpret the data extracted.
  • Provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders regarding our grants data; what can be provided, how it can be interpreted and reported.

About you

To succeed in this role, you'll need to have:

Background / Experience:


  • Familiarity with data management issues.
  • Experience working with large, complex databases and datasets.
  • Experience building and adapting SSRS reports using a product like MS Report Builder (or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills (advanced formula, pivot tables, charts).


  • An understanding of data analysis, reporting and visualization techniques.
  • Statistical knowledge, including use of standard statistics packages.
  • Working with external service and systems providers.
  • Previous experience working in a grant-giving organization.
  • Experience in training stakeholders to use reporting tools and comprehend data.



  • Ability to present complex information in an understandable and simple manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Being able to work closely in a small team, whilst also being comfortable liaising with people from across the organisation at all levels of seniority and external partners.
  • The ability to define reporting requirements based on complex data from user requests; provision of context on report outputs.
  • Ability to learn to use new systems and applications quickly


  • A Level in Mathematics, Statistics or a Science subject
  • GCSE English.
