We are seeking to appoint a courteous and enthusiastic team player to work as an Attendant in the Library. As a member of our Support Services Team you will provide essential facilities support to a key University service and the many people who use it. The emphasis of the role is to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors at all times. You will be a calm, committed, customer focused person willing to take on a range of duties including portering, cleaning, driving, first aid, portable appliance testing, security, and reception duties.

You will have:

  • A good general education including a minimum of grade C GCSE, or equivalent, in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with a range of people including staff, students and visitors.
  • A flexible approach to work, including working one evening shift per week on a rota basis during term time.
  • A full, clean UK driver's licence to drive the Library van to the remote store for collections of items for users.
  • A methodical approach to work, with attention to detail.
  • The physical dexterity and stamina to carry out a range of manual handling procedures, including moving book trolleys, shelving, cleaning, general portering.
