University of Oxford - Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM)

Grade 7

We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Structural biology to join the Structural Genomics Consortium. You will perform structural analysis of the MBL proteins (SNM1A, SNM1B/apollo and SNM1C/artemis), in complex with substrates, interaction partners and inhibitors, aiming to understand their roles, mechanisms of action and substrate selectivity, and to direct the development of potent inhibitors for preclinical use.

You will be educated to PhD degree level in structural biology or possess equivalent experience (or be close to completion of a PhD). Proven experience in protein biochemistry and crystallography would be essential. In addition, the ability to plan and perform experiments independently. You will be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be well-organised in planning and documenting experiments.

You will be required to demonstrate experience with molecular cloning, eukaryotic expression, protein purification and crystallisation methods. Experience with nucleic acid modifying enzymes or with structure-guided drug development would be an advantage

The post is full-time and available on a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2020 in the first instance.
