Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Human Genetics & Genomics

The Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences subject area at the University of Northampton is seeking an inspirational, student focused Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Human Genetics and Genomics.  You will join a dynamic and collegiate team, based in the Faculty of Health and Society, with a strong culture of student focussed teaching and high impact research. 

This is a particularly good time to join the University as we achieved Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework and we are moving to a new £330 million Waterside Campus this summer, which is based in Northampton Town.  Therefore, you will benefit from new purpose built laboratories and research facilities.  We are looking for individuals who are not only team players and have academic expertise but will live our values of being Future Focused, Super Supportive and having Social Impact.

The successful applicant will teach primarily within the Human Bioscience team to undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with the expectation to teach specialist human genetics and genomics related subjects.  However, an ability to teach across the wider subject area and contribute to Biology, Health and Sport and Exercise Science programmes will be considered an advantage. 

As an academic you will also be expected to contribute to the research output of the subject area (including the upcoming REF) and work collegiately with other researchers in the areas of genetics and genomics.  This is supported through our research centres and twenty-five days of annual scholarly leave.  

A PhD qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent professional qualification are essential.  Experience of programme leadership, use of learning technologies and distance learning in addition to a strong research and successful grant submission record would also be advantageous.
