Job Purpose

To be responsible for the delivery of language courses (and associated programmes) within Short Courses, including their design, development and organisation in line with Short Courses strategy and policy. Languages currently offered include Arabic, Dutch, French, Gaelic, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. The postholder will provide academic management and coordination, including identification of potential new courses and programmes, and will have line management responsibility for all part-time tutors associated with the delivery of language courses (and associated programmes). They will be responsible for ensuring the language courses operate on a successful commercial basis as well as providing a high quality educational experience.

Standard Terms & Conditions

Salary will be on the Research & Teaching Grade, level 7, £34,520 - £38,833 per annum.

This post is offered on an open-ended and full time (35 hrs) basis.

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
