Student Support and Engagement Coordinator

Bournemouth University - Student Services

At BU our vision is to create a stimulating, challenging and rewarding University experience, through sharing a unique fusion of education, research and professional practice and inspiring our students and staff to enrich the world. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, and who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences to build our global learning community.

Following a review of our support for students, Bournemouth University is looking for a Student Support and Engagement Coordinator.

Reporting to the Student Support and Engagement Officer, as a member of the Student Services team, you will support student retention by being the first point of contact in faculty for any student who has transition or wellbeing issues or any member of staff who has concerns about a student. You will also support the faculty Education Services Manager in issues relating to Fitness to Study and provide a link between faculties and Student Services on any areas of student concern around non-engagement or any wellbeing issues.

With experience in providing first line welfare and support and dealing with vulnerable student groups, you will also have exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to demonstrate empathy.

An understanding of professional boundaries and the ability to work within these at all times goes without saying as does an understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues.
