The NIHR London In-vitro Diagnostics, previously known as the NIHR Diagnostic Evidence Co-Operative (DEC) London, is a NIHR-funded infrastructure for evidence generation aimed at medical diagnostics, a partnership between Imperial College and Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust. NIHR-DEC London was initiated in October 2013 and was one of four DECs in the country (the others being Oxford, Newcastle and Leeds). Professor George Hanna leads the new NIHR London In-vitro Diagnostics. We work closely with industrial partners, clinicians and methodologists. We utilise a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to achieve efficient evidence generation designed to support the eventual adoption of technologies, in particular point of care devices. 

During the course of the appointment the Research Associate will carry out human factors/ergonomics research contained within the core methodologies of NIHR London In-vitro Diagnostics. This includes stakeholder analysis, clinical pathway mapping and adoption studies. This research may involve travelling to sites other than Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trusts or Imperial College London. The appointee will be working in a small but dynamic group carrying out multi-disciplinary research. He/she is expected to submit publications to peer reviewed journals, and to attract external research funding.

The successful candidate will need to have a PhD in human factors or a closely related discipline or equivalent. Applicants should have proven experience in qualitative and quantitative research and methods and statistical procedures.

This post is full-time, fixed term for two years in the first instance
