Q. How can I improve the response to my advert?

Q. Can we send our advert to you in HTML format?

A. No. As we use an HTML template to input adverts onto the website, text needs to be sent to us in a Microsoft Word or notepad document, or in the body of an email.

Q. We are a department in an academic institution. Can we advertise with you?

A. We are happy to take adverts from departments directly. We would, however, ask you to confirm that you have the authority to send adverts with your personnel department before contacting us. Please note that it is not our policy to display departmental logos on our basic adverts.

Q. Do you advertise studentships?

A. Yes. We have advertised thousands of studentships since our launch. Feedback from previous advertisers suggest that advertising studentships with jobs.ac.uk is the most cost effective way to reach your target audience — please see our effectiveness statistics.

Q. We also have a job description — can this be displayed with our advert?

A. jobs.ac.uk does provide a jobs description facility. Job descriptions should be sent in the same email with the advert but attached in a separate document. Ideally they should be sent as HTML files as they are uploaded as they are sent, however we will accept job descriptions in Microsoft Word (although some formatting may be lost when converted to HTML). The charge for job descriptions is £40 in addition to the price of the advert.

NB: We can only provide one job description per advert.

Q. My advert is displayed differently to how it was sent. Why is this?

A. We use a template for our basic adverts which means all adverts are displayed in a similar format, with job title appearing first, and logos appearing on the top left of the screen. If you wish your advert to appear very differently to this you will need to use our Enhanced Advert service.

Q. I have sent an advert to you in an email - when will jobseekers see it?

A. Adverts sent to us are queued in the order they arrive. They are then entered into our database as soon as possible. All adverts are normally placed on our website within two working days of receipt. If you cannot find your advert and you sent it more than two days previously, please feel free to contact us — it may be that we haven't received it. Please don't, however, resend your advert without checking with us first, as this may result in a duplication for which you will be charged.

Q. Can I self-submit my advert?

A. We do operate a self-submit facility for our annual subscription customers. For more details, please contact us.

Q. Can we place our advert in a language other than English?

A. Yes, as long as an English version is also displayed.

Q. I want to withdraw my advert — is there a charge?

A. If the advert has not yet been placed, there will be no charge for withdrawing it — please call us on +44 (0)24 7657 2606 with full details of the advert and how it was sent so we can locate it.

Q. I'm not certain my advert has reached you — shall I resend it?

A. If you cannot find your advert and you sent it more than two days previously, please feel free to call us on +44 (0)24 7657 2606 — it may be that we haven't received it. Please don't however, resend your advert without checking with us first as this may result in a duplication for which you may be charged.

Q. Is it possible to use tracking links?

A. We can host tracking links (if provided by client) for all outgoing links in adverts, e.g. if linking from an advert to your application page.

We can also host tracking links (if provided by client) for the Spotlight button when linking directly to an external site, e.g. if linking from a Spotlight button to your homepage.

We are currently not able to host tracking links for internal links, e.g. from a featured button to linking page / advert. However, it is a service we are looking to provide in the future, if you require further information please email agencies@jobs.ac.uk
