WHY COVENTRY UNIVERSITY?
Located in the birthplace of the British motor industry and the historical heart of UK’s world-renowned engineering and manufacturing sector, we’re proud to be one of the largest providers of mechanical engineering and civil engineering courses in the UK.
Activity-led Learning Approach
We recognise how important it is for our students to develop a strong practical insight into the subject area of a degree, as well as a solid theoretical foundation and we achieve this through an activity-led learning approach, where academic knowledge is cemented by practical real-world examples. The quality of our teaching and focus on enhancing the futures of our students and graduates is consistently demonstrated through our strong positioning in league table rankings, including 7th in UK for Mechanical Engineering (Guardian University Guide 2022), 7th for Building (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022) and 9th for Information Systems (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022).
Linked to some of the biggest names in Industry
Informed by advisory boards including members from some of the biggest names in industry, the majority of our courses are accredited by industry bodies, ensuring our students are equipped to meet the challenges of industry, gain exposure to emerging technologies, and succeed as future leaders in their respective fields.
Innovative and Award-winning Spaces
Completed in 2012, our award-winning £50 million Engineering and Computing Building (ECB) uses a range of sustainable technologies, including rainwater harvesting, solar thermal energy and biomass boilers. The BREEAM ‘Excellent’ building contains a high-performance engineering centre, which features our iconic full-size Harrier jet, industry standard workshops and laboratories alongside specialist facilities including a 20% scale model AMG Petronas wind tunnel and flight simulators. our new £25 million Beatrice Shilling Building is an exciting addition to the many innovative and inspiring teaching and research spaces already available to our students. The four-storey building is home to a host of facilities including a gaming and virtual reality studio, a specialist area for 3D printing and rapid prototyping, a laser facility and physics and electronics laboratories. All learning spaces are designed around a full height central atrium to promote student and staff collaboration.
