The Faculty of Science is delighted to announce that it is inviting applications for Prize Fellow positions in priority research areas, with the aim of making 6 appointments who will benefit from our well-resourced and supportive research environment.
Our Prize Fellowship offer early-stage researchers the opportunity to join a cohort of like-minded rising research stars. These two-year research fellowships in our priority research areas are part of a scheme intended to fast-track visionary scientists to kick-start their academic career in a supportive and well-resourced research environment.
As a Prize Fellow you will pursue an independent programme of research, including publishing in top quality venues and securing external research grants. The scheme begins with an initial appointment to a fixed-term Research Fellow post with the strong expectation to transition to permanent Lectureship after two years. Alumni of the scheme have become scientific leaders, progressing rapidly within the university to Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor.
The Faculty of Science is the largest faculty in the University with over 3,500 undergraduate students, 650 postgraduate students and more than 300 academic and research staff.
The faculty is broad and comprises five research departments:
We have a world-leading research culture and are continuing to build and grow research strengths. We have been very successful in recruiting students and providing them with an exceptional student experience in recent years, not least as students benefit from very strong industry relationships.
Every team at the University is the foundation for our community. Everyone who works or engages with the University benefits from the various teams surrounding them including Researchers, Academics, Technicians and Professional Services. The teams are only as strong as their output and reputation, which thankfully speak for themselves. Joining us, you’re supported and encouraged by the best minds.
At the University, we foster and encourage a collaborative way of working that is underpinned by genuine support. Our community is comfortable with the innovative culture we have created, one where it is not only about studies and scholarly collaboration, but people can utilise their own skills to showcase their dedication and contribute to the commitment of others. This dedication covers their own work, the University and each other’s endeavours. We truly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds leads to a better environment for our staff and students. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity. We have made a positive commitment towards gender equality and intersectionality receiving a Silver Athena SWAN award.
