NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre

Four-year PhD studentships

Do you want to drive research that will transform health and quality-of-life? We are seeking to recruit outstanding candidates for four-year funded PhD studentships starting in October 2022.

The NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) takes new discoveries, treatments and technologies into the clinic, using unique tools, facilities and world-changing expertise across our five key research areas. We improve people's health and resilience throughout life, generating the next generation of improved and individually personalised treatments.

The BRC is a partnership between the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research.

Applicants must hold a 1st class or 2:1 degree in a relevant discipline and/or second degree with a related Masters. Only UK students are eligible to apply in this current round.

How to Apply

Complete the University of Southampton online application linked from the Project pages above. Stipend may vary according to the Studentship source and in most cases will be at least equivalent to UK Research Council maintenance stipend rates (~£16,000). Self-funding students may also be accepted.
