Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL)

Porton Down, Wiltshire

These are key roles within our Threat Evaluation Group. We're looking for people with a strong scientific or technical background to help assess threat weapon systems and aid the development of tactics and countermeasures for UK forces. There will be one post in the Electro-Optic Threat Team (EOT) and one in the Maritime Non-acoustics Team (MNA).

You will:
  • Evaluate Electronics and Electro-Optical systems (EOT)
  • Conduct laboratory and field experiments and analyse results
  • Present results to small audiences
  • Develop a deep understanding of underwater processes (MNA)
  • Conduct software development and modelling
You'll need:
  • Physics degree or equivalent (or closely related subject)
  • Understanding of labview, matlab or similar
  • Familiarity with data analysis
  • Hands-on knowledge of lasers and EO experimentation would be an advantage (EOT)
  • Working knowledge of Ocean Physics and/or Hydrodynamics would be an advantage (MNA)
