We are delighted to announce that the Institute for Religion and Critical Inquiry at ACU is forming a new research team in Medieval and Early Modern Studies.

We seek scholars of outstanding potential and demonstrated achievement with expertise in medieval and early modern studies broadly conceived, to join and help to develop this new research team.

Successful applicants will join a vibrant research environment and work collegially and collaboratively to build their own research profile of high-quality publications, and contribute to team projects within their areas of specialisation and across traditional disciplinary boundaries.

Research Fellows and Senior Research Fellows have a primary focus on research, but some teaching, especially of graduate students, may be part of the role. In addition to these roles, we are also seeking a senior academic leader for the team.

Institute members engage in collaborative research on religion and critical thought from multiple disciplinary perspectives, including philosophy, theology, history, and literature. They explore the inter-relationships between philosophy, religion, and their cultural contexts, and contribute to contemporary theological, philosophical, social, and political debates. The new Medieval and Early Modern Studies Program adds to and builds on established research in Biblical and Early Christian Studies, Philosophy, and Religion and Theology. The Institute has developed research partnerships with leading global universities, and presents a series of research seminars each year at ACU’s Rome Campus. In the Excellence in Research Australia 2015 exercise, research in Religion and Religious Studies and Philosophy was ranked ‘above world standard’.
