Studentships will be funded for 3 or 4 years (depending on preparation). Fee support is not provided by these stipends but may be possible in some cases. All posts will carry a responsibility for some tutoring and/or practical supervision work within the School - up to 20% during the academic year.

To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must have obtained a standard of at least Second Class Honors, Grade I, or equivalent, in a primary degree with advanced mathematical coverage of Applied Mathematics, Mathematics or Statistics topics. Informal inquiries are encouraged and these can be directed to potential supervisors - any academic staff member of the School (https://www.ucc.ie/en/matsci/people/).

Initial applications must be sent by email to: sms-phd@ucc.ie.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. A follow-up meeting (in person or remotely e.g Skype) will be held between selected applicants and potential project supervisor(s). After notification of the stipend decision by the Head of School, successful applicants will need to progress a Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC) www.pac.ie application and be formally approved for admission by UCC.

N.B. The funding for these studentships has been generated through internationalisation efforts of the School of Mathematical Sciences, supported by the College of SEFS and UCC. Work associated with these stipends will also support on-going internationalisation efforts in the School.
