Lecturer in Entrepreneurship

Job Purpose
To undertake high-quality research in the area of entrepreneurship, to develop and actively contribute to teaching in postgraduate and undergraduate courses in entrepreneurship, as appropriate, to supervise undergraduate (honours) and postgraduate dissertations, to supervise PhD students, actively participate in research grant applications and undertake administration as required by the Head of Subject/School.

The teaching component of this post is devoted to entrepreneurship teaching across the University in order to provide students from other subject areas opportunities to take elective courses in entrepreneurship.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain individual/joint research projects in the area of entrepreneurship and management, to secure external funding required for research projects and act as the principal or co-investigator of research grant(s) as appropriate.
  2. Contribute fully to developing and enhancing the research profile of the subject area, including establishing a track record of publications of international quality in leading journals.
  3. Attend and actively contribute/participate in appropriate national/international events/major research seminars/conferences within the applicant’s research area by invitation or otherwise.
  4. Undertake supervision and training of postgraduate research students to ensure their effective development, where appropriate.
  5. Participate fully in assessment and examination processes as appropriate, (using a variety of methods and techniques) and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support learning.
  6. Supervise individual student projects and assist with difficulties, e.g. learning support/problems.
  7. Engage and participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities as appropriate to the particular specialism.
  8. Undertake subject area/college level administration as required by the Head of Subject/School.
  9. Contribute to performance and development review processes as appropriate in accordance with university strategy.
  10. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People – Changing the World.

For appointment at Grade 8 you will:

11. Take a leading role in the design, planning, organisation and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate course and programmes in the Subject Area.

12. Sustain internationally leading research activity in the subject area, including a track record of publications of international quality and funding required for this research, as appropriate.

Standard Terms & Conditions
Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade 8, £42,520 - £49,149 per annum.

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.

All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University’s relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court’s policies.
