Financial Systems Business Support Officer

The aim of the finance department is to support the teaching, research and other activities of the University through the efficient planning, management and control of its financial and business affairs, and the control of its funds and assets, together with the development and implementation of effective systems and services to improve the financial wellbeing of the institution.

Working with the Head of Financial Systems and Business Support to support the delivery of Financial Systems Development Programme. Providing a level of daily operational support where necessary to the Financial Systems and Business Support team and the financial systems user base across the University.

The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of new functionality and assist with the ongoing maintenance and development of the University’s core financial management information system, Unit4 Business World (Qfis).

As part of the Financial Systems and Business Support team you will work closely with colleagues to ensure the delivery of a high performing, customer facing team which proactively embraces change.

The post-holder will be expected to develop relationships with Senior Management within Queen’s to ensure the successful delivery of the Finance Directorate project objectives, and to ensure there is full involvement in other Directorate projects.

Driving through these business improvement projects and integrating them with day-to-day operations by developing a detailed knowledge of this complex business are key aspects of the role.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Qualified accounting technician (IATI or equivalent) or minimum BTEC / HNC level qualification in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience (in a financial environment) including engaging with system users to establish their requirements and subsequently successfully implementing the appropriate system and business process changes.
  • Experience in designing, implementing and developing financial systems in a complex business environment.
  • Experience of contributing to the successful implementation of a complex financial system solution.
  • Experience in the use of complex management information systems.

Salary scale: £27,285 - £31,604 per annum (potential to progress to £34,520 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
