Since the development of the Nottingham-Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high quality EAP teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China. 

Throughout the academic year, the Centre also delivers English language assessment, teaching training, the delivery of bespoke courses for external clients in various aspects of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) as well as study skills support for Chinese and international students across the 3 university faculties The Centre now seeks a Head to provide academic leadership, strategic development and operational direction of the entire Centre.

Applications are invited from qualified English language teaching professionals who are able to offer relevant senior level management experience and expertise in one or more of the following key fields: EAP/ESP teaching, Teacher training (experience in the delivery of internationally recognised qualifications such as CELTA, DELTA and their equivalents preferred), EAP/ESP syllabus design and assessment, and digital learning. The successful candidate should also demonstrate the potential to lead and expand this unit into new areas of business and student support activity.

Candidates should hold a first degree, a higher degree and/or other postgraduate qualifications in ELT/Linguistics or other relevant area, and be familiar with quality assurance systems within the UK higher educational context. Candidates are expected to have excellent people management and leadership skills, and the financial skills to manage and strategically plan for expanding budgetary resources. Candidates are also expected to have demonstrable experience in curriculum leadership and staff management.

A competitive salary package will be offered and additional benefits including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for this appointment.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of 5 years starting October 2018. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement, subject to revised terms and conditions.
