The School of Pharmacy is one of the UK’s leading centres for research in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Our research focuses on making real-world improvements for patients through our expertise in pharmaceutical science and practice.

This temporary post is available for 12 months to be an active member within the Drug Delivery research cluster at the School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast to assist in the planning and delivery of research within the area of ocular drug delivery so that the overall research objectives of the project are met.  The successful candidate will design, develop and refine experimental apparatus and experiments appropriate to the preparation, characterisation and development of drug delivery systems.

The salary offered to the successful candidate will depend on whether or not they have obtained their PhD.

The successful candidate must:

  • Hold 2:1 Masters/bachelor’s degree in or equivalent in Pharmacy, Polymer science, Medicinal chemistry or Pharmaceutical chemistry.
  • Hold or be about to obtain a PhD in Drug Delivery, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis or Polymer science.
  • Have at least 2.5 years of recent and relevant research experience in the area of drug delivery.
  • Have experience in laboratory-based research involving controlled release drug delivery systems, characterisation of delivery systems, and in vitro testing of biomaterials.

Salary scale:

Research Assistant: £27,285 - £31,604 per annum (potential to progress to £34,520 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)

Research Fellow: £32,548 - £38,833 per annum (potential to progress to £42,418 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
