Job Purpose

Two full-time positions in Singapore to deliver teaching on the BEng Honours degree programme in Civil Engineering offered jointly by University of Glasgow (through UGS) and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT); to contribute to research of international standard in civil engineering, and to undertake administrative and management tasks associated with University of Glasgow Singapore activities. The required areas of expertise for the two posts are, respectively: (1) structural engineering; and, (2) hydraulic engineering.

The University of Glasgow Singapore (UGS) is a subsidiary of the University of Glasgow that works in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). Its mission is to:

  • Deliver in-country undergraduate Honours degree programmes to the same high standard as those of University of Glasgow in the UK for a high quality education that equips students for a lifetime career as leaders in industry and commerce.
  • Provide PhD and professional development training in support of industry in Singapore.
  • Develop research and development collaboration with industry and other organisations in Singapore.
  • Engage with the research community in Singapore and developing links with research groups on the Glasgow campus.
  • Establish and promote its multidisciplinary research portfolio in an international context and fully engage with societal changes as identified by major international funding bodies.

This post is based at the Dover campus of SIT in Singapore with a requirement to visit the UK annually for induction and personal development activities as appropriate. Applicants must be able to work full-time in Singapore to deliver this role, subject to working and residency permissions.

The successful candidate will be employed by UGlasgow Singapore Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary company of the University of Glasgow.

Interviews will take place at the beginning of August 2018. Candidates may attend in either Glasgow or Singapore.
