Research Fellow in Machine Learning

Middlesex University

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in Machine Learning in the Department of Computing, Faculty of Science and Technology, in connection with the DREAMS4CARS Horizon 2020 project. This position is initially for a fixed term until 1/1/2020.

The project’s goals are to enable autonomous vehicles to cope with arbitrary and open-ended circumstances by building an offline 'dream simulation' mechanism to extend learning capabilities. Middlesex’s role will be to develop the high-level reasoning component of DREAMS4CARS.

The post-holder will develop novel mechanisms to help achieve this, involving deep learning and potentially also stochastic logic based approaches. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to directly test these methods on data generated by the project but will also be expected to develop his or her own research interests as the project progresses.

Candidates in Computer Science with a strong background in machine learning methodological development are strongly encouraged to apply. Familiarity with deep learning orstochastic logic methods would be beneficial though not essential. We also welcome flexible candidates with a background in Physics, Mathematics or similar. The ability to code developed methods, experience with data sets and an ability to work as part of a team are essential.

For more information about the role please contact David Windridge - d.windridge@mdx.ac.uk
