Main Purpose of the Post
Applications are invited for the post of Professor in Medical Education (Acute Physician). This appointment will join the team of educationalists at Swansea University Medical School and established Medical consultants based at Hywel Dda University Health Board working principally in Glangwili General Hospital.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is one of seven acute Health Boards in Wales. The Health Board intends to provide holistic, patient centred, integrated healthcare with 80% of NHS services being delivered close to people’s homes, through dedicated primary, community and social care teams comprising of doctors, dentists, pharmacists, opticians (the primary care team), nurses and therapists (the community team) and social care teams all working together. Delivering this vision will support care for the frail and elderly, whilst allowing our hospitals to concentrate on what they do best – providing both planned and emergency care when it is needed.
The post has arisen due to the need to focus care at the front door for Medical patients attending GGH. This development will ensure patients have timely senior assessment and decision making with the aim to improve patient care and outcomes.
The successful candidate will be expected to have specialty training and relevant experience in General Medicine/Acute Medicine and should be on the GMC specialist register or be eligible for inclusion on the register within six months of the interview date and have MRCP or equivalent.
This is a new post and you will join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking Medical team. You will also support the strategic development and delivery of education to under-graduates and post-graduates in Hywel Dda while working with the Educational Teams in the School of Medicine, Swansea University.
This post will close at 11.00pm 26th August 2018
