We invite applications to two tenure track posts in the discipline of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Trinity College Dublin (ranked #1 in Ireland in 2018). These posts are part of new investment in research and education at Trinity through the E3 initiative. The broad areas are in Electronics Design and Reconfigurable Hardware. This year we host FPL2018 www.fpl2018.org, one of the largest international conferences in Reconfigurable Hardware. The Discipline has an excellent track record in Research and Industry collaboration, ranging from fundamental research in communications, signal processing and energy distribution with Science Foundation Ireland through to the latest developments in neural engineering and media dsp . Industry collaborators include Intel,Xilinx, YouTube, Google, The Foundry, Huawei, ESB. Staff in the Discipline are involved in leadership roles with the CONNECT and ADAPT research centres also reflecting major national funding in these areas.
Academic pay scales for Trinity College can be found here and an Assistant Professor can expect to progress through those scales pending appropriate performance. Ireland is well provisioned with research funding opportunities with Science Foundation Ireland, www.sfi.ie, Enterprise Ireland and EU Research initiatives and the electronics industry is seeing a renaissance with companies like Qualcomm, Jaguar, Xilinx, Huawei increasing their R&D footprint here.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D in Electronics or related discipline. They will be expected to help build advanced courses in Electronics Design e.g. within our MSc in Electronic Information Engineering as well as build research teams in the area. Candidates will also show potential to collaborate with centres of excellence in the School of Engineering e.g. Signal processing, Communications or Bioengineering.
