This BBSRC funded post is available on a full-time basis from November 1, 2018 (or asap thereafter) for a duration of three years. The successful applicant will combine molecular cell biology, membrane biophysics, biochemical approaches and imaging to elucidate the molecular mechanisms to modulate organelle (peroxisome) dynamics and abundance for improvement of cell performance in mammalian cells.
The post will include molecular cloning, the development of cell-based reporter assays, generation and purification of recombinant proteins, protein biochemistry, biophysical approaches, expression, targeting and functional studies in mammalian cells.
You will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Expertise in the generation & purification of recombinant proteins, membrane biophysics, fluorescence-based confocal microscopy, mammalian cell culture and cell-based reporter assays will be considered as an advantage. You will work with Prof Michael Schrader and his team at the University of Exeter, in close collaboration with international partners.
